             Trimble
takes series lead after action packed Mallala meeting.

MALLALA - Saturday, April 17th, 2005 Team BRM driver Michael
Trimble has bought into a share of the Kumho Tyres Australian Formula
3 championship after the series second round was concluded
today at a sunny Mallala Raceway in South Australia.
            Trimble
drove consistently all day to record second and fourth place finishes
respectively in the two, 20 lap races held at the tough 2.6km circuit
north of Adelaide, and now becomes joint championship leader with
Astuti Competition Driver Chris Alajajian as the series heads
to Phillip Island in just over a months time.
            After
we had a tough day yesterday in qualifying, to be able to come out
of this weekend with a share of the lead is a good thing,
              enthused the 20-year-old Victorian.
            We
worked hard to get the car competitive overnight and it payed off.
I stayed out of trouble in the races to try and score as many points
as possible which we managed to do in the end.
            South
Australian Driver Tim Slade concluded a difficult weekend with a
pair of solid race drives today, taking his TSRWine.com / Gawler
Farm Machinery Dallara F304 to seventh and eighth place finishes
in the two races. The local hero struggled with outright pace in
what is a brand new car for this weekend, but maintains an upbeat
              attitude for his championship charge.
            There
is no doubt that the Gawler Farm Machinery car struggled today,
but I think we are on the right track overall, explained the
19 year old from McLaren Vale. I went out there today making
sure I kept my nose clean and made sure I scored as many points
as possible to keep us in the championship hunt. There is a long
way to go so im confident that I can bounce back on top at the Island.
            Kumho
tyres Trophy Class competitor Marc Williams had his best weekend
since jumping into a formula 3 car at Wakefield Park earlier this
year, scoring his first ever class race victories after a consistent
              days running.
            Williams
backed up his class pole positions scored yesterday with strong
race performances, and took the lead of the Kumho Tyres Trophy Class
heading into the series third round.
            It
has been a great day to be able to take the Trophy Class this weekend,
the 16-year-old Kiwi said. The car performed faultlessly and
we keep getting closer and closer to where we want to be pace wise,
            It
has been an awesome round and I think things can only keep getting
better and better for us this season.
            The
Third round of the 2005 Kumho Tyres Australian Formula 3 Championship
will be held at the super fast Phillip Island Circuit in Victoria
              on May 21 22.
